In 1999, Lea's Foundation awarded Joan Caron, PhD of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine a grant of $10,000 for her research on leukemia and its related cancers of lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma and mulitple myeloma. All totaled, from year 1999 through 2009, she has received more than $422,000 from the Foundation for her laboratory investigations.
Dr. Caron's work has led her to the brink of a cure for leukemia so on June 5, 2009 she filed a request for a patent for a new drug discovered in her lab that will cure this terrible disease.
Within the next several months, Dr Caron will test her lab theories on the animal models to comfirm her findings.
Confirmation, will be the Magic Bullet she has been working so hard to achieve to benefit all patients suffering from major blood-related cancers.
